Baking soda

Baking soda

You’ll be surprised how effective this simple cleanser can be. It’s really cheap, non-toxic and multi-purpose.

You can use baking soda very effectively for cleaning and scrubbing. Or add it to the rinse cycle of your laundry instead of laundry softener. It’s also great as an agent to remove heavy tea and coffee stains from cups when diluted with warm water.

A small bowl of baking soda in the fridge, freezer, or your cupboard will keep away unpleasant odors. To clean surfaces, just sprinkle baking soda on a damp cloth or sponge. Wipe, then rinse with clean water. In the bathroom, remove stubborn stains from most surfaces using a baking soda paste (3 parts baking soda, one part water). Apply, let stand, then wipe clean. To prevent drains from clogging, pour 100 – 200 ml baking soda down weekly or fortnightly.

(It is recommended not to use baking soda on aluminium surfaces).
