Basic tools

A long handled broom and dust pan to sweep where necessary.

A short handled broom can also be useful for smaller areas.
A hoover / vacuum cleaner.

A mop and mopping bucket.
Wet wipes can be useful and more hygienic than ordinary cloths.
Toilets will need a toilet bowl brush with a long handle.
A scrub brush for the kitchen and bathroom (sink, walls, shower, bathtub, etc).
A store-bought glass cleaner (or 1 part rubbing alcohol, 1 part distilled / demineralised water, a bit of white vinegar) for clean windows and mirrors.
Rubber cleaning gloves.

An old toothbrush can be useful for special jobs and hard-to-reach places around your house.
